Big Bollocks-Up

Well, I sure am thankful that I don't work on 'Big Brother'. It's beginning to look like the show is in meltdown. Two people have gone in the first week, before even the first eviction, and the housemates have clearly begun to cotton on to the fact that if they don't want to face the vote, they can just bugger off and ignore the indignity of it.

Clearly, the awarding of whatever clothes they could remember to Bonnie and Glyn is just in order to get them through until tomorrow night.

Rather more seriously, you have to question some of the contestants they've picked this year. Via Dave Weeden, we learn that at least three of the housemates have a somewhat questionnable past:

Shabhaz: was beaten up in an 'honour' attack by his own Dad. He allaegedly also sexually pestered people at his local gym.

Lea: has body dysmorphia, and has tried to kill herself twice.

Nikki: lied about coming fourth in Miss Hertfordshire 2004. She never entered. Like Lea, she also had a breast enlargement because she felt bad about herself.

On a personal level, I really can't stand the sound of Nikki's voice. She talks like a ten year old, and she's so credulous it's embarrassing. If you told her 'gullible' had been taken out of the dictionary, she'd believe you. Except that she probably doesn't know what gullible means. Imagine living with that voice - it really would drive me mental. Didn't know that she had a lesbian lover, though, or that she'd cheated on her with that deadbeat of yesteryear Pete Doherty.

Nikki's former girlfriend.

Steve,
I think they've pushed it way too far this year. I was totally appalled by Wednesday's show. Shabaz is very obviously disturbed. I can't say I think a great deal of the screening process that let him and the other people you mention through. I'm actually starting to think they should pull this years show. Idiots fighting over z-list status is funny, disturbed people torturing each other less so.

On a totally different point Nikki's ex is a beauty. I so would but what on earth did she see in Nikki?

Well, this is the thing. I'm really mostly in agreement with you. They seem to have picked people who are a variety of Z-minus celebrities and A-list disturbed people.

Shabhaz brought a lot of his problems upon himself on the show, but he should never have been on it in the first place. Apparently, he's now had to be taken to a secret countryside retreat while psychologists try to convince him not to top himself. Whoever screened these people first was just not up to the job.

As for Nikki, God knows. Horrible, cheap plastic breasts and a whiny, whingy daddy's girl voice. Could anything be worse? And really, why oh why oh why did she lie about being in Miss Hertfordshire?

1: Hardly a great status claim, is it?

2: Did she not think that the tabloids would check that out?

Nikki is utterly loathsome and very, very annoying. I have no idea why she lied about having been in Miss Hertfordshire as you say someone is going to check up and I presume the real Miss Hertfordhire contestents might pipe up. The phrase 'poverty of aspiration' seems very apt when one looks at Big Brother.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they had a fair incling that Shabaz was disturbed. They're probably looking to line up a few more similar characters for next years show as I speak.

Our domestic version of that show is awful. Just awful.
I've never seen the British version, and can't imagine it being better.

Clairwil - 'poverty of aspiration'! Yes! I concur. I'm so hooked now, I just can't stop watching it, so I'm desperately praying Nikki will be voted off. Please, God, please!

Ill Man - I guess they may have done. I reckon they'll have learnt their lesson though - it must have been a pretty close call as to whether it even carried on at one point last week.

SafeT - It almost certainly isn't, but it's sooooooooooo addictive.
